Aion is a very unique world. Instead of its inhabitants living on the outside of the world, they live on the inside - as if they were living in a shell. It is also unique in the fact that it is two halves, instead of a solid globe.The two halves used to be connected in the center by the Tower of Eternity before it was split apart by the great cataclysm that befell the world. Now, each race claims one half of the world as their own.
Eventually the two races that had been separated for so long met again - in the Abyss. A mysterious and dark place, the Abyss is the focal point of battle between the Elyos and Asmodians who are constantly fighting for control.
While in the Abyss they discovered yet another foe that lurks in the darkness - the Balaurs.
